What A Hoot! ~

Owl
by
X.J. Kennedy
the diet of the owl is not
for delicate digestions

he goes out
on a limb to hoot
 unanswerable questions
and just because
he winks like
men
 who utter sage
advice
 we think him
full of wisdom when
he's only full
of mice

this is a
as
seen through
the living room window

I am not a bird lover..there...I said it. They have always made me about half afraid of them. Don't know why. The owl is actually a very pretty bird but their eyes are scary to me. (I am such a titty baby)..
I love the cute little poem..:))

Maybe you are right about spring fever and closet cleaning. I found myself wanting to move all my winter clothing to the very back and bring the summer clothes to the front. :)) Actually, normally wintertime is my favorite season. This yr however, it's been so freakin' cold, I am ready for warmer. We are supposed to have 80 degrees sometime this week. Today was 76 and WONDERFUL.

I'm so glad you have all this wonderful wildlife to keep you coming in these cold, snowy winter days.

Cute poem! :)

Oh, these pictures are so much better than my hawk! Amazing. I can't believe you saw him in the daylight.

Oh wow. Amazing.

And as always, heart-warming.

Such an amazing creature and you did a great job capturing it.

My land, you have captured a rare siting in broad daylight. We have dueling owls that occasionally land on the metal roof and duke it out. A sleepless night for all.

Mice, mice, go away
or I'll send Susan's owl
your way.

Blessings.

Amazing photos and wonderful to have such wild life near your home.
I'm happy that some birds are coming into our garden now and looking very lively; it's a sunny day to-day.

I can't recall ever seeing an owl so beautiful, his feathers the color of tree and snow. Your photos are marvelous.

Loved the verse you've included, too.

What an amazing view you have! We often hear an owl outside our bedroom window late at night, early in the morning...but we have yet to see this wondrous creature. When I hear the owl song, I feel it in my heart, as if God is sending me a message...pay attention, wake up!

The living room window!!! Wow! And he must have been sleeping, it looks like it. Because it is daytime. I see you posted this yesterday? I don't know how I missed it on my sidebar, but am so glad I caught it, because you know we are birdwatchers!
