Transition ~

"Come," said the Wind to the leaves one day.

"Come over the meadow and we will play.

Put on your dresses of red and gold.

For summer is gone and the days grow cold."
and
time
marches on

and on

Reaching for the moon ~

Even as a child
I was not
a fan
of Halloween
but I
do enjoy
a bit
of Poe"esque"
when I'm
playing
with
certain photos
now and then
this one
reminds me of
"Quoth the raven nevermore"
although
it was just an old crow
being cranky

and this one

reminds me of
Edward Scissorhand
although
I never did
see the movie
but
this is what
I envision
he would look like
if
he were reaching
for the moon
It wasn't too long ago
that
Georgia
encouraged us
to
have fun
and play with
our photos
It's kinda
nice to be encouraged
to bend the
rules a bit
{even at my age}

Angel's Wings ~

"It's always darkest before the dawn."
A quote my grandmother
often repeated
when things
were looking their bleakest.
A quote that came to mind
as I gazed through the kitchen window
early Tuesday morning
before the sun would light the sky.

And then,
as dawn danced across the heavens,
another came to mind.
He sends His angels as ministering spirits
... as flames of fire ...

and
watching the morning
unfold
took on a whole new meaning.

in the midst
of
the darkness

rest your mind
and
quiet your heart
and you may just hear
the gentle flutter
or
the mighty swoosh
of
angel's wings.

{Unknown to me at the time I was writing this, my son and his father, who are hundreds of miles from home, had hit a large buck, gone into the ditch and back out, and were miraculously unhurt. The same can't be said for the vehicle. Oh yes, He does give His angels charge over us ... just as He promised.}

Simplicity ~

Nature is what we know
Yet have not art to say
So impotent our wisdom is
To her simplicity.

Be Still ~

Waking up … your drowsy, sleep-dazed mind half hears the clanking of the food trays being passed out … the soft shuffling of the nurses steps ... their cheery “How are we this morning, Mr/Mrs Patient?” and you try to track in your mind this new path you’re on. The “Oh, yes” messages seep into your consciousness … hospital, breakfast, pain, medication, quickly followed by the “No, I don’t want to be here, but nobody asked,” thoughts . Then ... of course ... the ultimate, “Shall we take our bath now?” and you know the day is well under way … and you wonder ... what do you mean “we” ...in time you will realize the futility of trying to change time-honored “nurse speak.” And then, because the full realization of what has gone on, what is going on and what will be going on is too intimidating a mountain for your heart/mind to comprehend you simply say “God” with a question mark. And God says simply back, “Be Still … and know … that I am God.”  When God becomes a question mark … this is where the rubber hits the road {pardon the cliche}. The question is not His existence … that’s a done deal, a “settled” as far as you are concerned … the question is … in this life-changing, overwhelming, fear-producing, crazy-making {need I go on?} situation ...  do You have a clue as to what’s happening to me … do You know where I am … do You ……? Let me assure you … this is the time to remember that “I AM THAT I AM” … and know that He holds you in the palm of His hand and that one day … over time … the question mark will become an exclamation point … in the meantime …
be still.

Those Words ~

When I first heard “those words,” I was quite young … 22 to be exact … I didn’t realize I was young … one of the novelties of youth ... imagining yourself older, wiser than you really are. Irreversible predicaments hadn’t been a part of my life up to that point … answered prayer had been … overcoming challenges had been ... albeit, in retrospect, they were very minor challenges. But then …  life changed. And when the Dr. looked at me with tears in his eyes and said those words … well … to be honest ... I was more concerned with his emotional distress than I was with my physical distress. They say ignorance is bliss … one could safely say I was very ignorant at that point even though I wasn’t exactly what you would call blissful either. I hurt … bad. I had no knowledge of spinal cord injuries. I had no idea that when he said, “You. will. never. ...” that it would prove to be true … at least up until this point. Remember … answered prayer … remember ... youth {immortal at that age}.
God will take care of me ... those were my words to him.
 Quite frankly ... I had no idea
of the road that lay ahead
~~~
If you haven't already been there,
I'd encourage you to pop on over to Mr. Coffey's site
and read his article entitled
When the siren sounds.
It is a good reminder
of what we need to focus on
when life
takes a direction
we hadn't
anticipated.
Take Off Your Shoes {please} ~
"Earth is crammed with heaven.
  Every bush is aflame with the fire of God, but only those who see take off their shoes.
  The rest just pick the berries."
-- Elizabeth Browning
Art of Observation ~
“A musician must make music, an artist must paint, a poet must write,
if he is to be ultimately at peace with himself.
What a man can be, he must be.”
~ Abraham Maslow ~
my unborn son's life
my life of 22 years
from costly experience
say
God is good ... God is faithful ... God is love
