Not All Loss ~

the presence
of your absence
lingers
with the sun
||-||
the pain of grief
is only a
shadow
when compared
with the pain
of
never risking love

The photo and quote go well together. Shadows and empty chairs are a good way to show absence and longing. But the writer is right about the risk.

may you know comfort in any and all griefs you experience...

I can't imagine anything sadder than not being willing to take that risk.

life would be very unhappy without taking the risk of love, for people and for pets, for spouse or friend. i read yesterday the memory we leave behind in our loved ones hearts keeps us alive. that is not the exact quote but i liked it.

I think of the shadow of her life on mine and I know it was worth it. Thank you, Susan.

The shadows express these thoughts well, nothing left but shadows when we don't take risks, an empty life. Not just with love, but in many things in life, new chances, changes.

Good quote and so true!

Lovely pairing of words and image. The shadow of the figure on the back wall rapidly moves the eye from the chair to become the focus of attention, rightly placed on the person who is absent.

Oh, Susan. The shadow--I'm trying to decide if it's of one present--or the one absent. This is stunning.

Oh, you've touched my heart with this one. Pain in the missing... a strong reminder of precious love. The empty chair does it to me every time. Praying you are comforted as you have comforted us.
