winter
placed itself
upon
my bones
it
heaped
and stored

each
layer
cold, forlorn
it
almost
reached
my soul that
winter
placed
upon
my bones
the cracks are how the light shines in,
and it is only by remaining aware of imperfection
that we remain open to redemption and reform

Love the sunflare image!
Beautiful images.
I could acutally feel the cold and then the light as I read. Beautiful, as usual.

speaking of bones...this is the time of year when the trees show off their good bones
I love the layers of meaning in your words---the kind of verse that no two people will read the same.
The quote is so true and something those seeking perfection don't seem to understand---a timely reminder to us all.
Incredibly wonderful photos! I love the colors 'teasing' us in the third one! :)
That final image - that is pure magic...
I love that top photo. It's my favorite part of snow. When it's still and the wind hasn't blown the snow from the branches. The sun hasn't started melting anything. And you can hear everything so crisply.
okay... this is my favourite post so far.
the flare, LC,
heavy sigh, Susan.
Oh, my goodness. You just hit us with a massive dose of beauty.
The last photo with the sun flares is beautiful!! Very pretty.

Oh my. How lovely.
You just made winter the most beautiful season of all! But then, you make every season beautiful with your words and images.
Your pictures are amazing. Perfect compliment to beautiful words.
Exciting and illuminating.
I like this presentation very much.
I love the snow layered on the branches. The sun flare shot is stunning!
That sun flare picture is pretty.Sometimes what one person would see as a problem, like a sun flare, actually makes the picture.

i like that leonard cohen quote and your images, as always, are stunning.
comparing bare trees to bones.... so appropriate! A love the analogy
Oh, that last one, Susan. Wow. Trying to let my cracks etch beauty out of this imperfection. Praying the Light shines through.
Beautiful! And I pray Lord, crack me more and have Your way - light shining through and through and through....
Love, love this whole post!
You make "winter" so warm...with your wonderful talent!
That sun flare gives me chills! In a good way...
I LOVE your poem!!! And really, those bare trees look like the bones of winter, too! I have posted that Leonard Cohen quote, it's one of his best, "There is a crack in everything, that's how the light gets through". Do you listen to his music, or read his poetry? I love it and we have several of his C.D.'s and a concert DVD.
Those are my favorite kind of winter bones... so pretty!
Beautiful words, a wonderful quote, and lovely photos. Love the sun & lens flare shot !
