when i was a kid i though it was a morning dove (without the U)... but when the U is added, it becomes vulnerable, like that quote says

I have long admired mourning doves, their soft color, cooing and the sound their wings make as they land or take off. I like the quote on mourning too.

We have a pair of mourning doves that feed in our back yard in the evenings. Their haunting sound is one of my favorites.

i like that sound. i remember liking it way back when too.
The mourning doves are regular visitors, here (they love the seeds of the little beach sunflowers that grow in our front yard.)
I have not seen or heard a mourning dove but I consider it a privelge to have mourned the loss of some close to me ... it does teach.
So on FB I got confused and thought this was Sandra's image -- and of course... coming here I know it is her heart and soul speaking in symphony with yours

I love the sound of the Mourning Dove. ACtual mourning on the other hand is hard work but it must be done.
here in the south the mourning of the doves is a common and much loved sound. i love to sit in the swing and listen to them cooing to each other back and forth.
They are abundant here as well and I hear their cooing often. The quote is the perfect accompaniment to your photo!

We have doves that visit our backyard each day. They love to try to scare the squirrels away from the birdseed.

I also love the cooing of the Morning Dove. We are luck to have one that like to perch and sing on our roof top in the summer.
I love mourning doves. We are regularly visited by pairs of them in our yard.
