Stand Therefore ~

(a little click will enlarge the photo)
a wind has blown the rain away and blown
the sky away and all the leaves away,
and the trees stand.  I think I too have known
autumn too long

Departure ~

I thought to
wave farewell but
their intent was on the leaving
 so quietly I murmured a
note of gratitude for
 their beauty and
was still

Be still:
there is no longer
 any need of comment.
It was a lucky wind
that blew away his halo
with his cares, a lucky sea that
drowned his reputation."

"We All Fall Down" ~

"Now autumn's fire burns slowly along the woods
and day by day the dead leaves fall and melt."
William Allingham
*  *  *
the winds of the past two days
have disrobed the trees
and left the landscape
somewhat barren

the eight fires that burned
in NW Minnesota
this weekend
have filled the air
with the pungent odor
of burning peat
and
 left their assault
on our eyes and noses

tonight a
winter storm warning
announces a 70%
 possibility
of snow

"I Can't Seem To Forget You"

I saw them
dancing in the ditches
and wondered
at the rhythm in the
windsong
that they heard
as a young woman
I enjoyed the
fragrance
and its accompanying tune

Pneuma ~

sometimes it takes
the breath of
kindness
 to part
the irrelevant
so you can see
that
for which you seek

ORIGIN
pneuma
Greek, literally ‘that which is breathed or blown.’
