Impending ~

"Now autumn's fire
burns slowly along the woods
and day by day
the dead leaves fall and melt."

Wayside Flowers ~

 I've no idea what
these are
but they were certainly
enjoying blooming
in the roadside ditches.

"We All Fall Down" ~

"Now autumn's fire burns slowly along the woods
and day by day the dead leaves fall and melt."
William Allingham

the winds of the past two days
have disrobed the trees
and left the landscape
somewhat barren

the eight fires that burned
in NW Minnesota
this weekend
have filled the air
with the pungent odor
of burning peat
and
 left their assault
on our eyes and noses

tonight a
winter storm warning
announces a 70%
 possibility
of snow
