Somewhere we know that
without silence
words lose their meaning,
that
without listening
speaking no longer heals,
that
without distance
closeness cannot cure.

Hi Susan, Beautiful, comforting verses.
Beautiful.
How remarkably apt Nouwen's words are.
In our darkened times, He is all we can count on. And I sure better remain intimately connected to Him and His world more than mine. [Obviously filled with too many sighs from much of what we are hearing and seeing in our present days/times.]
Thank you...
Comforting thoughts in these troubled days. Thank you, Susan.
It is a tradition for us to spend the week before Christmas at the beach, to escape the whirlwind of life for a period of rest, silence and contemplation. Thank you for reminding me of what a gift this is.
cool quote by henri.
Oh how very comforting. And, thank you for stopping by with your kind words the other day... it's nice to be thought of. = )

Beautiful, and very timely quotes, Susan.
xo.
Nouwen's words are made more powerful by your capacity to frame them in beauty.
A good reminder about silence--and listening--thanks for sharing. Think I will go back and read that again. Love that kitty cat!
Beautiful!

The thought of words losing their meaning with silence. So true! May we listen to the silence.
A wonderful promise to share!
Lovely Susan. Yet in silence I listen to Him these days. Wondering if still he is at my side....longing for that present and prayers go straight Up.
Thank you so very much for your kind words. Knowing you have to deal with so much more in life than I have to....I'm ashamed of feeling down while things could have been way worse.
Wanted to let you know. Sending out warm thoughts back to you my friend.
Amen. Hugs Dagmar
