A Day Of Loveliness ~

there are days
that feel as though your
 head is in the clouds
even though your feet remain
firmly planted on
 the ground

"Spread love everywhere you go:
first of all, in your own house.
 Give love to your children,
 to your wife or husband,
 to a next door neighbor.
Let no one ever come to you
 without leaving better or happier.
Be the living expression of God's kindness."
Mother Teresa

Choose Wisely ~

"The life I touch for good or ill
 will touch another life,
 and in turn another,
until who knows where the trembling stops
or in what far place my touch will be felt."
 Frederick Buechner

A Bearer of Light ~

"But I also say this:
that light is an invitation to happiness,
and that happiness, when it's done right,
is a kind of holiness, palpable and redemptive."
 Mary Oliver

Jesus said,
"I am the Light of the world"
John 8:12

whatever it is that you
 celebrate today be it
Halloween,
 All Saints' Day,
 Reformation Day,
or others I am not aware of,
please know you can bring light
 into someone's world with
 an act of kindness as
simple as a smile

The Imaginary Voyage ~

I imagine
my grandmother
at the age of 3
sailing from Sweden
to another world across the sea

I've no way
of knowing whether
she actually sipped tea from
this delicate cup with the spring violets

I do know she loved beauty
practiced hospitality
and lived kindly

for thereby some have entertained angels unawares.

Well-lit ~

Open your heart to all these blessings
and let them flow through you,
then everyone you meet on this day
 will be blessed by you,
 just by your eyes,
 by your smile,
 by your touch,
 just by your presence.
Brother David Steindl-Rast

Linked ~

tenderness and kindness
are not signs of weakness and despair
but manifestations
 of
 strength and resolution

in
which
you waited your turn,
took only your share
and
sought advantage
over
no one."

Kindness Leads ~

hiding
hiding
hiding
until
the
kindness
of God
led me to change
free at last
~ ~ ~
God is kind, but he's not soft.
In kindness he takes us firmly by the hand
and
leads us into a radical life-change.
