I have a friend visiting
and we took a little stroll
along the driveway
and checked
the progress of
the milkweed
food for the monarchs
and observed the other
wild grasses blooming
in between the rain showers

I am so glad you told me, I was scrolling and had no idea what those teeny flowers are! I need to get some for butterflies, I imagine you get a lot of them. I love that long row of hay.

We had just had another incredible thunderstorm. This is the summer of dodging rain (I can't recall a summer when it's rained so much). Consequently, I don't get to do much strolling. Glad you had such a lovely walk-about.

I want to add some grasses and this milkweed looks like what i need... so beautiful and a butterfly draw... the skies are beautiful and stormy looking... as always your photos are perfection. happy for you your friend could stroll with you.. friends are even better than butterflies and milkweed
Beautiful pics! It wasn't until just a few weeks ago that I knew that milkweed had the most beautiful blossoms! All I knew about was the pods that were filled with the "fuzzy seesd"...I remember finding them s a child and also that the "milk" reminded me of Elmer's glue..lol! But the blooms! They are glorious...I was able to snap a few with bumble bees on them...will post them soon!

We haven't had rain for a couple weeks now -- unusual for this area during July, but I'm loving the sunshine. I was out walking for a bit with my camera this afternoon, too, but didn't capture anything as lovely as these photos of yours. Beautiful!

I like those kinds of days, with mixed rain and sunshine. Your milkweed flowers look pink (and ours are orange.) I didn't know they came in different colors? How lovely that you get monarchs. I almost never see them here - we have gulf fritillary butterflies, and zebra longwings, and giant swallowtails, and lots of others I can't name, though :)
I love the sweet smell of the milkweed plant.
