These berry bushes are some of my favorite signs of fall and I'm a Dickens' fan.
It is mind-blowing the devastation that has hit parts of our country right now. I saw an online list of organizations to donate to. They included pets which we know from Hurricane Katrina often end up separated from their owners.
Beautiful and I join you in praying for the storm's victims.

It's raining again today. Not good, as the Potomac flooded Alexandria, Va., Tuesday night. Not having a basement heartened me. Everyone is only beginning to take stock of all that's been lost. My many friends in NYC and my son in Brooklyn are doing ok, considering the destruction. Loss of the transportation system has made getting around there extremely difficult. The next few weeks will prove a test, I think. I offer prayers of hope and thanksgiving to all.

October is one of my favorite months...thinking too about all the people now facing destruction and the sometimes brutal November weather.
