Susan, You made my wife's night with these pictures. Poppies are her favorite. Did you happen to read "Captivating" by Stazi Eldridge? She used this Nin quote in that book, according to my wife. She likes it so much she has it listed as her favorite quotation on her facebook page. Lisa has the poppy fever bad.
Jeff, I haven't read that book but I can't think of this Nin quote without thinking of poppies. It's just as though they are taking their caps off when they bloom and then slowly unfolding. Glad your wife is enjoying them, too.
You and me both. I adore the poppies, and it sometimes seems that I wait all year for them! They are beyond almost anything, even the buds are awesome.
I've loved that quote ever since I first came across it. That poppy bud is stunning. I think I stumbled on poppies this weekend. I wondered what that flower was that I had to shoot. Now I must have some of my own.
I saw poppies growing wild beside the fields and vineyards in France last year. Jeff and I stopped and lingered over them awhile. We had to. We had a touch of poppy fever. :)
Absolutely gorgeous photos. The first photo is a stunner!! I didn't know the quote, but don't think I will ever look at poppies again without thinking about it!!
I love how the green bud looks like it's biting the colored one---it does look painful for the colored bud to stay curled up! Inspiring quote and a lovely photo to enhance it. :>)
Okay--I am catching on that you have a God given talent here--for pairing a visual with thoughts we all need to think about. I am more visual than 'hearing'--so this helps me to remember what I need to learn. Thanks for using your gift this way.

I really like that quote!
Plus, all our poppies are white. I don't get to see that color around here.
Susan, you make me see things I have never noticed before. I have never ever seen that view of poppies before and I grew up in California...Impressed!
Oh Susan - thank you for this loveliness. Such a restful, encouraging space to enter here. LOVE it.
