Faded ~

the
wind
tumbled
leaves old

like
the dryer
leaching
moisture

 on the last
cycle

autumn
grew faded
and
barrenness crept in

such striking photos
and verse.
Still very green here.
And hot...over 90 today.
Sigh.
Cool supposed to move in
soon.
Please. Oh, please.

Well, this year, it seems that that the trees are almost skipping the color and going straight from green to brown and falling. Just a day or so of color! But your brown leaf picture in the middle is so pretty, paper thin with the sun coming through.

I think when the leaves first fall and mass on the ground like splotches of paint is one of the loveliest times.

The photos are lovely. The words, too, yet they make me feel sad - for the barrenness creeping in...

Beautiful word picture - and photos - of the changing of seasons! I love your unique perspective!

Beautiful - and kind of sad too.

I love the verse and photos. The change keeps us on our toes and visually stimulated.

So very pretty - but yes - the barrenness is creeping in....and soon there will be gorgeous sticks of the trees pointing towards gorgeous blue skies with puffy clouds.... love that too!

Oh my. When it's 80 degrees down here, it's hard to imagine that the leaves are already falling up north! I like the second photo, with the sun turning the leaves a golden hue.

When we lived up north, I would gaze out the window in the middle of winter and feel sad about the barrenness of the landscape. You've captured it perfectly Susan - the fading.... thankfully we have the promise of spring.

Beautiful photographs...but such a sad message. Sad because I hate to see the glories of autumn fade away, yet I know we need the rejuvination which winter brings - at least to the plants!

I love these images of the season. Beautiful, Susan! This--my favorite time of year.

What beauty and promise there is in autumn's barenness.

Thank you for visiting, Sue. Is the suspended piece representing something floating? The one at the gardens looks like balloons floating through the air above.

Sandy, the Chihuly piece is in greens and blues and reminds me somewhat of little octopus legs or sea world creatures.

Ah yes, and this too must pass ... but it's been a good run ! Beautiful words Susan, reflected in your lovely photos.

Autumn light is so delicious .. like honey ... especially in the bottom two shots.

Your poem reflects the very NOW-ness of the season... I am in awe and thoughtful... Lovely photos too, Susan :o) Happy Day ((HUGS))

I love bare trees as much as trees with leaves, trees are wonderful no matter what the leaf is at the time. wonderful photos of beloved trees. i love crunching through dry leaves, the sound of it and burning them in piles.

The saddest time of the year for me...all that fading and dying away...the loss of exhuberant summer colors. Glad to live in Florida in the winter where fall isn't quite so notable.

I feel a little faded myself, so I can relate to this. Winter comes early in MN, eh?

Such beautiful photos and words ...autumn leads the way to winter. Winter with all is beautiful nakedness.

Such a cool simile and a gentle personification: a soft tribute to fall.

it's glorious here now, but yes, the trees are stripped one by one by the moment ,especially with the tremendous winds we had yesterday...
it's time

Such beautiful photos on this post and the following ones up to the present day. The words and photos just weave one in and out of autumn.
Glorious!
